the Wooden Box!

Two containers are available under the kitchen sink. One must be exclusively used for organic residues and napkins/tissue paper, and the other to dispose of non-organic trash. Make sure that food containers are rinsed before disposing of them. Diapers are to be disposed of in a separate bag.

Failure to separate trash will incur a $150 pesos fee (charged through Airbnb), which the municipality charges to pick up unsorted trash.

Cash is still widely used in San Agustín Etla, both in convenience stores and restaurants. You will find an ATM just 350 meters from The Wooden Box. Walk down on Porfirio Diaz to the end of the street, and then take a right. You will find the Banco del Bienestar just 80 meters away.

Beto, our house manager, is very knowledgeable about the area and can arrange hikes to the old hydroelectric power plant or the Picacho (the big peak in front of the house).

While there are no fixed prices for these, we encourage tipping Beto for his time.

Fernando, speaks fluent english and can be booked for airport and city transfers ($700 one way), as well as tours.

If you need a local taxi while in the house, please ask Beto to arrange it.

We encourage our guests to support the town’s local grocery stores. There are several nearby tienditas, the closest located about 350 m from the house. Take a walk down Porfirio Díaz and then turn right. You will see it about 40 meters from you. Most of the tienditas are cash only.

If you are on a long-term stay, it’s worth taking a trip for large supplies to the Aurrera or Chedraui supermarket approximately 20 - 25 minutes away by car.

There is a furnace on the roof terrace which you are free to use. Lumber will be provided for the first use. If you need more you can buy from Beto for $100 pesos.

Two or three pieces of lumber do the trick, please don’t use more than that at the same time.

Please do not move around the furnace as it is fragile and can break if you try to change it’s place.

Make sure to set out the fire before you leave.

Cleaning is included once every two weeks during long-term stays (more than a week). It will be done on Wednesdays.

However, Beto, our gardener, will need to go into the house to water our plants once a week.

We have a watering system that goes on everyday from 5:30 to 6:00 in the morning.

Garden work is done once a week. Our gardener, Beto, will ring the door before entering the property.
